Getting Started with BuoyForms

Welcome to BuoyForms — the modern form builder for teams that care about data.

Create Your Account

    Sign up

    Go to buoyforms.com and click Start Building. Sign up with your email and password, or use Sign in with Google.

  2. 2

    Name your organization

    Enter your organization name — this becomes your workspace where all your forms, submissions, and team members live.

  3. 3

    Start building

    You'll land on the dashboard, ready to create your first form.

Your First Form

There are three ways to create a form:

  1. Click Forms in the sidebar
  2. Click + New Form
  3. Enter a title (e.g., "Customer Feedback Survey")
  4. Click Create — the form builder opens

This gives you a blank canvas with full control over every field.

Add Fields to Your Form

The form builder has a field palette on the left with 29 field types:

Category Fields
Basic Text, Email, Number, Phone, URL, Checkbox
Selection Radio, Checkbox Group, Dropdown, Picture Choice
Rating NPS, CSAT, CES, Rating Stars, Scale, Slider
Advanced Likert Scale, Grid/Matrix, Ranking, Calculation, Signature
Date/Time Date, Time, Date & Time
File File Upload
Layout Heading (section divider)

Click a field type to add it, or drag it to a specific position on the canvas.

Configure Your Fields

Click any field on the canvas to open its properties panel on the right:

  1. Label — the question text respondents see
  2. Description — help text below the field
  3. Required — toggle to make the field mandatory
  4. Placeholder — hint text inside the input
  5. Type-specific settings — options, scales, validation rules
Advanced: Field validation rules

Every field supports validation rules to ensure data quality:

  • Required — respondent must fill this out before submitting
  • Min/Max length — constrain text input length
  • Pattern — match a regex (e.g., phone number format)
  • Min/Max value — constrain numeric inputs

Validation errors appear inline as the respondent fills out the form.

Preview Your Form

Click Preview in the top bar to see your form exactly as respondents will see it — without publishing.

Publish and Share

    Publish

    Click Publish in the top bar. Your form goes live immediately.

    Share

    Click Share to get your form's link. You can copy the direct link, generate an embed code, or download a QR code.

    Collect responses

    Your form is now live and accepting submissions. View them in real-time from the Submissions tab.

View Submissions

  1. Click Forms in the sidebar
  2. Click your form name
  3. Click Submissions to see responses
  4. Click any submission row to view the full response
  5. Click Export to download data as CSV

Invite Your Team

  1. Go to SettingsTeam in the sidebar
  2. Click Invite Member
  3. Enter their email and choose a role
  4. They'll get an invite email to join your organization
